self-publisher, small press or first time author. We believe there is more
to the production of your book than just putting ink on paper. We offer a
range of services including typesetting, design, printing, binding,
promotional materials, ISBN, Library of Congress, copyright and
distribution.
Our business relationship begins with a
complimentary consultation to help you determine the feasibility,
marketing strategy, most cost effective specifications and initial print
run of your book. Our company is unique in the book printing industry in
that we take time to show you step-by-step everything you need to do to
produce, promote and sell your book.
We can show you how to profitably
produce and sell your book with print quantities that fit your project.
Our equipment can efficiently produce books in quantities of 50 to 10,000
or more copies. We will never try to oversell the initial print run in
order to make a quick dollar. We consider your project a long term
commitment. We are dedicated to the success of your book. We want to
establish a lasting business relationship for years to come.
Print Ready
Copy
You
can provide us with a high-resolution PDF file for the text and cover to
qualify for our PRINT READY prices. The text pages must be the same size
as the book's final trim size and include all graphics, page numbering and
design elements that you want in your book and should contain all the
pages in one file. As with the old "camera ready" artwork,
what-you-see is what-you-get. We are going to reproduce exactly what is
provided to us in the file. The cover file should include all color
graphics as CMYK, not RGB format. Any bleeds on the cover should be
1/4". The file should include crop marks at the four corners and the
spine width (we can tell you the proper spine dimensions for your page
count). We will send you a printed set of page proofs and a color cover
proof for your final approval prior to printing.
We
can also work from your Non-PDF
format print ready files. You can provide us with files from PageMaker,
InDesign, Quark, Illustrator or Photoshop. We can also work with files
from MS Word and WordPerfect. If you do not need typesetting and design
work we will produce a PDF file from your program file from one of these
programs. You will need to also send us all the font files and image files
that are used in the document.
Typesetting
Our typesetting department uses the most
up to date versions of today's computerized publishing software. We can
accept your manuscript on disk from many different word processing
programs. We have IBM compatible computers with Macintosh conversion
capability. Typesetting capabilities include complete design of your book:
title page, copyright page, table of contents, running heads, running
footers, footnotes, glossary, index, captions and cut lines for photos and
artwork and electronic pagination.
We also accept camera ready copy and
book reprints from printed pages, computer print-outs and just about any
other hard-copy. We will either scan these pages and reproduce them
exactly as they appear or we can scan and convert via optical character
ready (OCR) and then typeset and design.
Cover
Design
We
can turn your ideas into a beautiful book cover. Cover design is one of
the most important elements of book production. Our design team will
create a beautiful cover from your supplied photos or artwork or we can
also provide copyright free images from our own library of stock photos
and artwork. A color proof will be emailed as a PDF or JPG file, or a
color printed proof will can be mailed to you for final approval.
Printing
Our printing department utilizes offset
sheet-fed presses and the latest high speed digital printers. This insures
crisp, sharp photograph and type reproduction and is the industry standard
equipment for short to medium run length book printers. Our minimum
run length is 50 copies.
Bindery
The bindery department specializes in
perfect binding (adhesive bound paperback). We can produce comb and spiral
bound books for cookbooks or any other book that needs to lay flat when
open. Our standard U.V. coating on the cover adds a protective high gloss
finish. We also offer plastic film lamination, printed combs, hard binding
and tabbed dividers for an additional charge.
Special
Services
We can secure your ISBN numbers for you
or coach you through a do-it-yourself process. We do not charge
extra for doing it for you. We only pass on the fee as calculated by
R.R. Bowker (current rate is $250).
Lastly, if your book is of interest to
the Pacific Northwest we offer the services of our sister company,
Maverick Distributors.
Marketing
Unlike many book manufacturers who
simply print your book and send you away. Maverick offers a complete
line of marketing solutions to help spread the word about your book.

Promotional Materials -
Maverick is committed to your book
selling! Therefore, we offer you full color postcards in various
quantities to help you promote your book.
These postcards are full color and fully customized! They are as
unique as your book is. We have streamlined the process to keep
costs as low as possible. Each card is 4.25 x 6 in size.

Files on Disk -
For a nominal fee, we can place your
completed book including all text pages and cover artwork on a CD and ship
it to you. In addition, many publishers have designers they are
working with to promote their book, we can send your artwork to your
designer as well.

Our
Standard Book
Our standard book satisfies the needs of
almost any author, self publisher or small press. We have spent years
perfecting the processes and materials. Standard sizes are a full trim 5
1/2 x 8 1/2, 6 x 9 and 8 1/2 x 11. Our standard book is perfect bound,
portrait format. Other economical sizes are available as well as landscape
format.
Standard text paper is 60# offset, high
bulk, acid free vellum (400 PPI), and cover paper is 10PT C1S. Text is
printed in black ink, while the cover is printed in 4 colors with U.V.
Coating. We can also produce books with full color text pages at
additional cost.
Optional papers and printing including
colored, recycled or coated papers, colored text ink, full color text
photographs, are available at additional cost. Please ask for a quotation.
